About us
The Centre for Virtual Reality and Landscape Modelling (CEVRAMOK) is an interdisciplinary research laboratory that combines geography and computer science, specializing in geovisualization.
CEVRAMOK is now a part of the Geography Department with the Faculty of Science, University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně, Ústí nad Labem. Our centre is located within the premises of Cheming Ltd., U Panského Dvora, Ústí nad Labem.
CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) is the vital base of the centre. It is an instrument creating interactive immersion virtual reality, which can be used in the following fields: future scenarios of landscape, environment, architecture, molecular visualization, hydrometeorology, education and art.
There is unique equipment within our centre: newly used data projector, mono-chip operated, InFocus DepthQ HD, screening pictures on 3 sides, each of 2.3m in length; CAVE is operated by 4 work stations interconnected into a cluster with output onto a stereoscopic display (Perceiva DSD190); Tracking ultrasound system (InterSense IS-900 Precision Motion Tracker) provides interactions between the user and virtual environment; Programming facilities are mainly focused on landscape and landscape segment visualisations, but other areas of use can also be applied.
Our fields of collaboration cover the university as well as outside organisations. Our latest 3D modelling projects were covering:
- parts of the campus;
- Dobříš town centre;
- Klášterec nad Ohří town centre and the castle;
- Most town centre block modelling;
- In the field of environmental studies, noise pollution was analysed in the following locations:
- Srbice (belonging to the borough of Teplice);
- selected parts of D8 (motorway).
Annually, the range of using 3D visualisation together with virtual reality is presented to students as well as general public on open education days.
We are offering companies and organisations collaboration in using our facilities if based on research and project executions or also system training meetings. Projects are also to be presented outside the laboratory.
